After designing the program curriculum framework for the Master of Public Health, we were invited back to work alongside academics from the School of Health and Wellbeing to design the content for one of the new core courses: PUH8030 “Public Health in Practice”. This first year, first semester course helped students to understand the application of their studies from the outset of the program. PUH8030 used a multi-disciplinary and case-based approach to help students apply theoretical content to real world examples of public health issues. We recruited, interviewed and filmed five case studies of real-world practitioners working in public health across West Moreton and Darling Downs. We built the course content and assessment tasks around these case studies to help students apply the theory they were learning in other core courses.
